This html document invites a viewer into a seemingly live chat session underway between Gibran Khalil Gibran, who lived in the 19th and 20th century, and myself, in the present. From the informal discussion, the viewer can tell that the two of us know each other. Once the conversation is over, the viewer can navigate back in time to see older chats: one held a week earlier, one a month earlier, and finally, one a year earlier, when the two of us first e-met. Through the discussions, the viewer finds out that Gibran had been working on “The Prophet.” This early web page navigates fiction and html chat messages in order to create a speculative conversation across time.
